Yago Hortal

Love the latest painting series of Yago Hortal, a catalan painter based  in Berlin. Hortal was born in Barcelona, 1983 and  studied fine art at the University of Barcelona. He has participated in several shows and prizes around Europe and some of his works are part of private collections around the world. See more;

Btw, I found these paintings in the new and cool Silueta Magazine, an independent and non-profit magazine which features artists spotted all over the internet. I recommend it! His first issue is based on classic photography, collage, illustration and some abstract works by artists such as  Yago Hortal and Josha Scott. You can download it for free, here.

Dervishes in Space

DERVISHES IN SPACE is the new great project by Riese Farbaute, a young film production company from Hamburg, Germany. They  produce mainly fashion films and art films. This work is a fashion film trilogy revolving around three futuristic space travelers. When their space station crosses an unknown energy field, the astrogirls are transcended into a hyper-reality where their inmost desires and fears become uncannily vivid.
Dervishes in Space is a three-part fashion film series directed by Cristian Straub. The “Science Fashion Film Saga” merges elements from High Fashion, Science-Fiction, Music Video and Art Film into one cosmic (fashion) film experience. See videos;

“Dervishes” is a audio-visual reflection on the transience of beauty, of all being. Despite our mortality, we secretly strive towards eternity. Even though we know it’s irrational - there are those rare moments in time, which make you a promise, which make you believe it is possible after all.

This series of films is dedicated to those special moments of intense experience. Because it’s what all things celebrating beauty, be it art, fashion or film, are striving for: claiming a little piece of eternity.

lrich Strothjohann

The new work by german artist lrich Strothjohann (1954) is part of "Life's Coaching" his currently exhibition at MOT International, these beautiful sculptures will be at the gallery until next 2 April.  See more;

On first viewing of Ulrich Strothjohann’s new sculptural works one is reminded of a particular scene from David Cronenberg’s film Dead Ringers , 1988. Beverly (Jeremy Irons) designs his own special gynecological surgical instruments, which he commissions a sculptor to make. The Sculptor later steals the designs and exhibits them as art at his gallery. Strothjohann’s tools do not suggest the violence of surgical instruments but the ambiguity between function and form is a constant in his work. With this set of tools Strothjohann has designed purpose built display boxes. Each mirrors the tools’ contours, but then spiral off into other forms, reminiscent of amphitheaters, kitchen units and nautical design. The initial belief that you are close to a reading of these objects soon takes a conceptual U-Turn and confounds your preconceptions. - MOT International

X&Y by Flynn Talbot

Flynn Talbot is an Australian lighting designer, who has created a new interactive light object called X&Y. This product allows people to touch and control the power of the light and  choose their own favourite lighting colour. See more;

"The polished brass base contains all the LEDs and technology and is not connected to the the hand-blown opal glass sphere. The sphere simply sits on the base and is supported by a ring of felt. It can be rolled in any direction to determine the intensity and colour of the light from the illuminated base. The object takes its name from the X&Y axes - the horizontal “X” axis controls the colour and the vertical “Y” axis defines the brightness. The sphere produces light in a range of cool to warm white tones and a full colour spectrum." - Yatzer

You can find X&Y in the Flynn Talbot's solo show at HELMRINDERKNECHT, contemporary design gallery in Berlin.

Recomended see also his other projects called Horizonts, their colored gradients remind me some works of James Turrell.

Jorinde Voigt

STAAT-RANDOM XI, 2008.

Jorinde Voigt nació en 1977 en Frankfurt am Main. En 2002 empezó a desarrollar y plasmar sobre el papel estos impresionantes dibujos conceptuales. En ellos constan miles de datos, anotaciones y resultados que hacen referencia a las múltiples facetas por las que han traspasado sus proyectos; trabajos de fotografía, performances, e instalaciones. En uno de sus primeros dibujos Voigt estaba buscando una manera de escribir viva y dinámica (está claro que lo encontró). Ver más dentro del post;

English info after the jump;

Jorinde Voigt (born in 1977 in Frankfurt am Main) has been developing conceptual drawings on paper since 2002, referring to them as notations and scores, and which form the core of her multi-faceted oeuvre consisting of photo works, performances, objects and (sound) installations. In her, for the most part, oversized notations, Voigt constructs an ordering system, as complex as it is individual, in order to survey invisible processes in our present day. Whereas in her early drawings Voigt was searching for a way of writing that reacted as dynamically and lively as reality itself, the most recent drawings represent a reduced writing system of drawing-like codes. Car Prints

Smart

BMW Z4

Bonitas impresiones realizadas por Sarah Illenberger, creativa con sede en Berlin. Cubrió los coches con pintura que se aplica con las manos y dedos, y luego hizo estas impresiones cubriendo los coches con telas. Me gusta la idea y el resultado, es como el proceso contrario de cuando se añade una textura en un objeto 3D, me recuerda al UV mapping cuando está abierto. Ver más dentro del post;

Cool prints by Berlin based creative Sarah Illenberger. She covered some cars with fingerpaint and then made these huge prints with them. I really like the idea and the result, it's the oposite process when adding texture in a 3D object, the prints remind me when UV mapping is opened.
You can find a german article about it here. See also a great (video) article about her last work here.

When did you first feel the urge …

When did you first feel the urge …” is a reconstruction of an experiment conducted by the neuro scientist Benjamin Libet in 1968. A test person could choose to press a button at any moment – but he should remember the position of a circulating dot on a screen in front of him. Libet showed, that a ‘readiness potential’ in the brain preceeds every volatile decision , and hence questioned the concept of free will that had been fundamental to philosphy and religion for centuries. The ‘reenactment’ of this experiment recalls this controversial thesis and transforms it into a minimalistic videosculpture by Eno Henze.

500 litros de pintura soluble en agua y no perjudicial con el medio ambiente se vertieron sobre el asfalto, 2000 coches pasaron por encima de esta realizando esta enorme e involuntaria composición colorida. 25.04.2010 Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin, realizado por IEPE & the anonymous crew.
