optional features shown by Zach Nader

Since Photoshop introduced the content aware fill tool, it has been familiar between several artists who used it to create different concepts. All what I had seen till now are pieces working through static images, but Zach Nader made in 2012 optional features shown a 02:10 min video using the same tool over some commercial cars in which the texts, cars and people have been replaced by the content aware's background. I find very interesting the glitchy movement over a constant and quiet background. See more;

Jasper Elings

Damn! the work of Jasper Elings wasn't published directly here despite I'm a huge fan of him from long time ago. I'm sure you already know some of his pieces or at least have seen something while surfing the internet as Jasper's work has been highly viral. His simple but great concepts are usually based on the internet culture as you can see on the selection of pieces into the post which probably were created 2 years ago. Jasper is lately quite focused on 3D animation as I saw what he is sharing on fb but of course continuing with the same sense of humor than his previous works and animated gifs which some of them have thousand of notes, have a look to his tumblr. Evan Robarts

I like these two scanner drawings made by Evan Robarts in 2010.  Basically the glass was damaged through a drill and an orbital hand sander in the second one into the post. The whole concept is great as both scanners as sculptures and the final monochromatic digital c-prints. I'm curious about to see random stuff scanned using these glasses, is like a drawing sign. There Is A Rainbow by Kent Rogowski

I specially like this piece called "There Is A Rainbow" from the "Everything that I wish I could be" book-collage series created by Kent Rogowski. 

"Everything that I wish I could be is an exploration of language, emotions and the desire to change and improve one’s self. There is a self-help book for almost every moment and problem in life; from relationship advice to dealing with the inevitability of death. Each large format photograph, pictures an arrangement of title pages and spines, from up to 100 self-help books that are based around a central theme. Elspeth Diederix

"Elspeth Diederix deliberately abstains from the use of digital manipulation techniques but instead in her photographs special effects are achieved by manual intervention. Effects such as optical illusion, false perspective, the mixing of colours and forms, are elements inherent to the art of painting and are applied by her in the creation of the photographic image." "Diederix is playful and inventive in her visualisation of images but strict and almost mathematical in constructing her compositions. Even though her photographs may give the impression that they are brought about by chance, they are in fact staged to an extreme degree. A plastic bag may become a flower, a plastic bottle part of a classical still life.."

Bernard Voïta

"Over the past years Bernard Voïta has worked almost exclusively in the medium of photography, although the way he does so is often compared to sculpture. In his work he challenges the medium’s boundaries and its imputations and sounds out its potential as well as questions of perception. Out of simple found objects, Voïta constructs three-dimensional models in his atelier, which he, in a second step, records with his camera. His works do not picture an out-there reality, but an arranged-by-the-artist, complex sculptural design that finds culmination in its photographic depiction. Thus images arise that allude to modernist architecture and city landscapes, or to arrangements and patterns that border on abstraction.These, via the composition, utilize the medium’s own effects, such as depth of field and the loss of real dimensions. The perspectivally arranged objects together conform to one plane.Which objects and arrangements are represented behind the images is no longer discernible to the eyes of the beholder. Search by image - Sebastian Schmieg

One of the latest works of Sebastian Schmieg is called "Search by image" the same name as the Google's feature which was launched last year and lets users search by image, and he used for this  project. Sebastian made different huge researches of images by using a recursive process, he started with one image, then search again with result from the previous search, and the same with the next result, etc. He wrote some scripts to make the process easier. Finally Sebastian presented the different searches through videos, displaying the images following the same order he did searching the images. 

In the first video below, into the  post, he started from a transparent png,  and then searching recursively for almost 3000 times. You can see more tests on his site. See more;

UPDATE (August 22, 2012): Sebastian Schmieg made an online-live version of Search by image >>>  http://sebastianschmieg.com/searchbyimage/live/. This live version documents a real-time-time recursive search that began with an empty, transparent image. Each image is chosen by Google's “search by image” algorithm as the one looking most similar to the previous image. Every time somebody is on the page, the recursive search continues.

Marine Hugonnier

Marine Hugonnier is working since 2004 on "Art for Modern Architecture" a still ongoing  collage series which investigates the role of the image by obstructing the press images on the front page of a week’s worth of newspapers such as The New York Times, The Times, Die Tageszeitung, Le Monde, The Herald Tribune, The Neue Zürcher Zeitung and Al Ayaam, all of them have been created making lots of cutouts from the book titled "Line Form Color" by Ellsworth Kelly. Reliefs by Alexandra Roozen

These "Reliefs" by Alexandra Roozen are mesmerizing! I really like their minimalist style and careful composition, despite this, they provoke in the viewer a very strong visual effect, introducing him/her into different impresive perspectives. All the series is made from the same material and size, silicone rubber and 50x40 cm, 2011. See more;
