Penique Productions

Penique Productions is a Spanish art collective creating temporary inflatable installations. The Project consists on the creation of colour inflatable that fills up the space erected by others, providing them of a new identity. A simplification of the space that unifies shapes and textures becoming one generating a different atmosphere. The balloons are constructed from regular patterns, adjusting each inflatable to the characteristics of each location. The concept works on the relation between the full and the empty, generating a dialogue with the space we inhabit temporarily. See more;

This golden installation took place last September at Palazzo Ducale, Genova, Italy. The dimensions of; 10m x 3m x 4 m ( x 3 balloons) and one more 9m x 3m x 4m.
More installations and different colors and places on their website.

Videorative portrait of Randall Okita

Sergio Albiac has been working the latest six months on this project called "Videorative portrait of Randall Okita", as he told me, this is one of the most complex works he has developed so far. A work that makes you think about a new way to understand what is a realistic portrait, using meanings and emotions instead of  brushes.

Sergio tells us more about this realistic, emotional and interactive painting way he has created;
"With this new work, I try to create a new type of portrait, one that goes beyond physical appearances, more "realistic" as it renders the founding blocks of the intimate world: memories, relationships and emotions. It is also a metaphor of the art of traditional painting, but expressed in contemporary media: generative video and interactive installation. It is an evolutive type of portrait that can be fed with more video memories by the person portrayed, increasing "likeness" as time goes by.  Also, it is a "data visualization" of the emotional life: the installation version of the work uses online access to Wikipedia to infer emotions tied to memories and displays new and "subconscious" interpretations of the person portrayed. It is "meaning visualization"". See more;

"What is a truly realistic portrait? This question inspired a project about going beyond physical appearances and attempting to render the interior world of a human being, through memories, emotions, relationships and personal story. All of it organized around a portrait painting metaphor: brushes loaded with meanings instead of paint would render a portrait using my "generative video painting" techniques."

"Painting a Videorative portrait (a generative, narrative and interactive video portrait) starts with collecting personal videos of the person portrayed, tagged by him/her with relevant concepts and descriptions. Then, using a custom developed tool, the artist "paints with meanings" and generates a video portrait, subtitled with generative personal narratives. In the interactive installation version of the work, the viewer can "navigate" through the subject's mind, opening his/her video memories, accessing their thoughts and revealing hidden connections between the meanings, using online access to Wikipedia to infer related emotional states. These "data visualization" create new and unexpected interpretations of the portrait.

The subject portrayed can add more video memories, tags and descriptions to “increase the likeness” of the portrait over time, all his/her life, creating a never-ending collection of personal documentaries.

Videorative portraits are the result of my experiments to build a more “realistic” contemporary portrait of the physical and the psychological. A comment on the art of portrait painting. A visual metaphor of the memory, heavily distorted, chaotic, fragmented, obsessively replayed. A window to the subject's personal experience and intimate world. A picture of memories. A map of emotions."

Yago Hortal

Love the latest painting series of Yago Hortal, a catalan painter based  in Berlin. Hortal was born in Barcelona, 1983 and  studied fine art at the University of Barcelona. He has participated in several shows and prizes around Europe and some of his works are part of private collections around the world. See more;

Btw, I found these paintings in the new and cool Silueta Magazine, an independent and non-profit magazine which features artists spotted all over the internet. I recommend it! His first issue is based on classic photography, collage, illustration and some abstract works by artists such as  Yago Hortal and Josha Scott. You can download it for free, here.

Mil personas con Talento

See more projects by Lisa Petrelius.

Me parece una idea muy buena, una perfecta forma de darse a conocer unos a otros y conocer artistas y gente relacionada con el mundo del arte y del diseño muy interesante. Una de las cosas que más me ha llamado la atención a sido el nivel y el estilo de trabajos tan característicos que se está concentrando en esta nueva iniciativa, muy buenos! Las imágenes y vídeos que hay en el post son algunos ejemplos que ya forman parte de milpersonascontalento.com. Ver más dentro del post;

English info after the jump;

milpersonascontalento.com, a new cultural initiative that tries to achieve a chain of 1000 people with talent in which every artist recommends the next. It is a relay race in which the “art baton” can travel anywhere in the world and be made of any art discipline, and at the same time, it brings us the possibility to enjoy the work of talented people that for different reasons are not always as recognised or exposed. The chain started in Barcelona and because of the recommendation of the artists is now in Stockholm! Who and where will be next?

I think it's a very good idea, a perfect way to meet artists and people very interesting connected with the world of art and design. It caught my attention the good level and characteristic style of works that is focusing on this new initiative. The images and videos are some examples that are already part of milpersonascontalento.com.
