Sectionimal

The coffee table "Sectionimal" was created in 2009 by the Chilean parametric design and digital studio gt_2P. Its design was created from digital modeling with parametric generative algorithms capable of section volumes. The Sectioninal's structure has a free volume sectioned and assembled from its manufacturing plans. This table is part of a series of parametric furniture generated by an algorithmic program of links called SECTION, designed also by the own studio gt_2P. Its materials are Mdf laquered plywood, italian lacquer gloss 20, Pvc foamed (Litecell HD), corian and tempered glass cover 10 mm. Dimensions, x: 76cm, y: 180cm, z: 35cm

Currently this product is commercialized for the furniture and design objects store Sala Vitra, Santiago. See more;

About gt_2P, great things_to People;

"gt_2P emerged from the compatible interests we discovered amongst the associates, including productive process of architecture and design and the possibility to generate these processes from digital mediums, trying to reach farther than what is representative by including areas of fabrication, manufacturing and construction from these media.

Our main interest is the design process assisted by computing knowledge (C-KAD, Computing Knowledge Aided Design). This type of design implies relative knowledge in many different relevant variables, geometrical (space, form, size, etc.) as well as non-geometrical (output, costs, manufacturers), in a project, allowing for the integration of the formation, development, production and useful life stages. Therefore, the Parametric design ends up being the most efficient for these purposes."
