CONTACT (4444) by Andrew McGill is a sculptural light installation piece consisting of a matrix/grid of 225 controllable incandescent light bulbs. The grid displays a series of abstract patterns which play within the systems of line, repetition and figure ground relationships to create visual illusions of movement, shape, colour and vibration. "The project is ongoing, as the possibilities for imagery are endless. My current fascination lies in experimenting within the limitations of human optics by playing with the natural attack and release of the eye, (ghost image, snow blindness etc.). I have found that at extremely high frequencies, strobing symmetrical geometric patterns; human optics begin to distort from reality causing the viewer to see visual effects which are not present." - Andrew McGill
