Thomas Albdorf

The photographer and graphic designer Thomas Albdorf was born in 1982 in Linz, Upper. Austria. Currently is living in Vienna, Austria.
I like the minimalistic way that Thomas is looking for his photography, almost his entire photostream is based in objects and his own sculptures centered into the picture. See more;

He tells us a little about this obssesion;

"I think the film format I'm using, medium format, square 6x6, forces the centering a bit, secondly I'm used to work precisely due to my background as graphic designer, and well ... as mentioned, I'm a bit neurotic, so centering the main object I'm focusing simply feels better to me. Also, due to the fact that I'm mainly working with one single object that I stage and take a photo of, that really works like a sculpture for me, centering is necessary to lead the focus to this one object."

CIRCLE ONE DIRECTED BY CESAR PESQUERA

Circle One is a short film written and directed by César Pesquera and produced by Bus Productions and Reform Communications.

René lives a dull, uneventful life in a subterranean and futuristic world. He is about to be promoted and transferred from Circle One to Circle Six, when a series of mysterious mounds start to appear systematically in his apartment.

Circle one's starting point is Dante’s Divine Comedy combining the notion of Michael Haneke’s thriller with Andrei Tarkovski’s intimacy, albeit clearly influenced by pioneering movie directors like Stanley Kubrick or George Lucas. See the exclusive full version of Circle One just for Triangulation's readers;

César Pesquera is a director, graphic designer and audiovisual artist. He has directed and designed innovative moving image work across a broad spectrum of both commercial and non-commercial strands of the visual arts. His work is a reflection on the grammar of cinema and the relation between visual art and the cinematic experience. His films are screened worldwide on both visual art platforms and film festivals.

Cesar Pesquera will be at OFFF 2011 speaking about Circle One. You can find him there from 11th to 13th June in Barcelona.

"638 circles in 16 gifs" by Kim Asendorf

c00-10-128-bw.gif

I'm sure you already know Kim Asendorf (@kimasendorf) or you have already seen his works around internet. I love his projects which always have an abstract, minimal, and geometric aesthetics, you can check it in his last exercise called "638".

Asendorf is doing a little Processing workshop each monday in the Art School Kassel, this time he showed the students how to make gifs with Processing and the gifAnimation library by extrapixel . With this flow he did this gif series, these are programmed, a circle aligned to the center of the canvas gets a random size and color. A simple loop tween makes it as large as possible (256px) and then back to zero pixel and again to the starting value. The same happens with the color and also the alpha value. By using more than 1 circle something like a wormhole appears. and if you want, it also feels like the circles rotates like vinyl on a turntable.
The file name explains the content a little;

El nombre del archivo, explica el contenido un poco;
