Topologies by Quayola

Topologies is the latest work by Quayola. This project is a new instalment of the ongoing Strata Series 1,2,3.

"Differently from the previous Strata pieces, Topologies does not describe a process of transformation, rather it focuses into the observation of objects that are already fully transformed. The subjects of these new pieces are two iconic paintings from the Prado Museum’s collection: “Las Meninas” of Velazquez and “L’ Immacolata Concezione” of Tiepolo. Following the rules behind their visual composition and colours, the two masterpieces have been transformed into digital fabrications through the use of custom software. Topologies consist in the exploration of the digital objects created by this transformation process. The outcome is not a narrative film but rather separate objects of contemplation... "A diferencia de los últimas piezas de "Strata", "Topologies" no describe un proceso de transformación, sino que se centra en la observación de objetos que ya están totalmente transformados. Los temas de estas nuevas piezas son dos pinturas icónicas de la colección del Museo del Prado:. Las Meninas de Velázquez y L'Immacolata Concezione de Tiepolo. Se ha tenido en cuenta la composición visual y los colores, de las dos grandes obras que se han visto transformadas en fabricaciones digitales a través de un software. Topologies consiste en la exploración de los objetos digitales creados por proceso de transformación. El resultado no es una película narrativa, sino más bien objetos independientes de la contemplación ... Literalmente pinturas digitales."
